PM Narendra Modi's helicopter could not land in Nadia's Taherpur due to dense fog. PM Modi returns to Kolkata Airport and he is currently travelling by road to Nadia for his administrative and public meeting both. The helicopter fails to land at the Taherpur helipad owing to low visibility on account of dense fog in the area. The PM’s copter made a U-turn after hovering over the helipad ground for a while and returned to the Kolkata airport.
Reportedly, PM Modi reached Kolkata at around 10.40 am and took a helicopter to Taherpur where he is scheduled to hold an administrative programme to launch highway projects in Bengal, followed by a political rally of the BJP, titled Parivartan Sankalpa Sabha where he is supposed to address. Ahead of his public meeting, yesterday evening PM Narendra Modi wrote on X: "I will address a BJP rally in Ranaghat. The people of West Bengal are benefitting from numerous pro-people initiatives of the Central Government. At the same time, they are suffering due to the TMC’s misgovernance in every sector. The loot and intimidation of TMC have crossed all limits. That is why, BJP is the people’s hope."
Meanwhile, today early in the morning a shattering tragedy unfolded near Taherpur station in Nadia district just hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled public meeting where four BJP workers from Murshidabad district lost their lives after being hit by a speeding train, while two others are critically injured. The victims had traveled via rented bus throughout the night with a group of about 40 BJP workers from Sabaldaha village in Murshidabad district's Barwan in order to attend the PM Modi's public meeting in the Matua stronghold of Nadia's Taherpur.
Early reports indicates to dense morning fog as the main cause of the train accident, making it hard to see or hear the train coming. Authorities are examining all aspects to understand exactly how the accident occurred. The news has caused deep shock in the area, especially as excitement was rising for the PM Narendra Modi's visit amid a charged political atmosphere
